A romantic self-contained bed and breakfast in the World Heritage Blue Mountains Surrounded by National Park, the picturesque hamlet of Mountain Lagoon is only an hour and a half from Sydney’s CBD, yet its peaceful rural charm is a world apart from the bustling city life.
The Mill Paddock was named after a saw mill set up in the early 1900’s to cut logs from the forests nearby. It then became an apple orchard until 1960 when owner and botanist, Co Nuzum, planted the beautiful 5 acre garden that we enjoy today.
The mature trees – liquid ambers, maples, oaks, eucalypts, camellias, magnolias etc have been selected from all over the world for their special features. The birds certainly appreciate them, and flock to enjoy seeds, nuts, berries and pollen through the year.
The veggie garden supplies organic produce for you to share for your dinner. Just imagine pulling carrots or picking broccoli and half an hour later they are on your plate. Delicious!
The Chookmahal (so named by the neighbours) houses 20 odd chooks who spend their days in paradise wandering the large garden. Their free range eggs feature in your country breakfast.
The wallabies are shy but if you are up early you will see them grazing on the lawn or eating our roses (a special favourite of theirs).
